Welcome to our (already?!) third Inside Olapic, a bi-weekly interview series where we delve into the brilliant people who contribute their time & effort to make Olapic a success and a great place to work.
While we are always working hard to be a leading Earned Content platform, it’s really the people of Olapic that make our company truly special. Our company’s core values are: courage, collaboration, awareness, and performance, and we think that you’ll find these characteristics present across all the OlaPeeps we interview.
That said, it’s time to introduce the wonderful and talented, Ana De Jesus.
Role: Senior Marketing Manager, EMEA
Olapic Office: London
Hometown: Lisbon, Portugal
Time at Olapic: 1 year, 2 months
What do you like most about your current role?
Would be hard to specify one thing. I love the ability to work in a fast-paced environment where I can put my ideas and creativity into practice to make an influence in the business; I love working with a team that is passionate about what they do, and are supportive and collaborative; and I love working for a company that is constantly innovating and that genuinely cares about our customers and delivering the best service.
What’s one superpower someone in your role or team must possess in order to succeed?
Organisation! When you are working across multiple projects in multiple countries, whilst supporting your team and having to continuously evaluate the success of all the work you are doing to help plan ahead, being extremely organised is key.
What is your favorite thing about the culture at Olapic?
Team work. At Olapic we work collaboratively together as a team towards the same goals and that, not only makes everyone feel supported, but helps create a nice and friendly working environment too.
What Emoji best describes you?
? : I like to consider myself as a happy, positive person and I do use this emoji the most as I find it the cutest of the smiley faces, so I would like to say this is a good representation.
What’s your favorite quote?
Just do it! Yes, it’s not my original quote, but I remember this sunny day when I was a child and was looking down on this diving board for over half an hour and suddenly Nike’s slogan came to my mind and I just jumped. I was so pleased with myself that ever since, whenever I’m afraid to do something, ‘just do it,’ will come to my mind and makes things a lot easier. After all, it’s better to regret something you have done than something you haven’t done.
Do you have a favorite throwback song?
Avril Lavigne – Sk8er Boi. I was a bit of a skater girl myself at the time of this song, so it became my favourite for a while as it made me feel like a bit of a rebel (I was clearly not paying much attention to the lyrics and just was influenced by Avril’s attitude).
Sk8ter Boi, giphy
If you didn’t work at Olapic, and could do anything, what would you be doing?
I would be a ballerina. This was my childhood dream, but that dream was crushed at the age of 6 when my mum informed me there was no ballet school nearby. She ended up sending me to contemporary dance instead.
What was the last book you read?
Freakonomics – It was really interesting! Made me put a different perspective on the subjects they explored in the book and helped me become more inquisitive about the ‘obvious explanations’ in general.
Favorite thing to do in your spare time?
Dancing as it makes me feel great. Though, most recently it has been home decoration since I got my new flat and find the decor part really exciting and entertaining.
If you could be any animal, what would you be?
A Tiger. I find them beautiful, strong, and independent animals… and I like the idea of living free under the sun.
What’s your favorite Instagram account to follow & why?
@lauraksawyer who is an interior stylist and comes up with some really inspirational home styling ideas.
